Ship Security
One of the powers and functions of the Agency in line with Part IV, Section 22.-(1)(g) of NIMASA ACT (2007), is to “provide directions and ensure compliance with vessel security measures “.
This function is simply achieved by delegation (Classification Society) or direct appraisal and audit of Ships Security Plan (SSP), and Ship Security Assessment (SSA) so as to verify that developed plans and assessment are in compliance with the ISPS code and SOLAS convention.
The Agency also provides links to Ships Owners / Managers for ships security alert to be transmitted whenever there is security emergency or incident.
